In summer of 2017 I had long two week arduous trip to Boy Scouts Jamboree in New Mexico, US. It was a great experience in many ways including

  • outdoor activities,
  • unique time while being away from electronic gadgets for so long ;),
  • physcial strain of carrying 35+ pounds of luggage,
  • being in New Mexico’s 100+ degree (Farehenite) temperature
  • sleeping in the open environment
  • cooking your own food (as much as possible)
  • hanging around with buddies for many days in a stretch
  • no school academic activities ;)
  • no follow-ups from mom/dad/siblings ;)
  • and many, many more

While being there and after coming back I had some time to think about in detail about an acvitity that I had planned for some time back, i.e., helping people in some way when they are down either financially or otherwise. I had used Prezi before at school and was quite comfortable in using it. I also came across freewares that do as good a job as Prezi if not better and quickly brain stormed the idea on paper and then using Coogle. Above is one of the draft.

I will go into more details on how this helped me in picking a donation project. At the very high level I picked some creteria that will help me in stream-lining the selection process and later implementation.

Few things I jotted down were

Who is the beneficary of these donations
  • Economically poor? or
  • Disabled? or
  • Ones with health issues? or
  • Budding entrepreneurs? etc.
In What way we can help them
  • Provide them items or funds: Items could be mosquite nets, effecient stoves, small borewell pumps, farm animals, etc.
  • Funds Money
How would we help them
  • What is the input to the donation process and how do I raise funds or collect items? etc.
